What we have build is a decentralized peer review system to address the huge centralization that has arised in reviewing research papers and disbursement of research grants. Our project aims to distribute the task of reviewing or vetting research proposals/papers among 100s or even 1000s of research communities rather than having a handful of research `committees` to do the same. Smart contracts are widely used in the blockchain space for decentralized transactions that involve monetary exchange. However, these contracts are prone to security vulnerabilities that has cost more than 2.1B dollars in the last year itself. Current manual and automatic approaches/ tools range from a low level expertise to high level expertise in terms of skills and also vary in terms of scalability depending on the complexity of the approach. However, these require the user to submit the code externally for checks whereas it is obvious that the most natural and ideal way for such checks is to enable the coder right within their development environment (for example as a VSCode extension). However, most of these tools are not tractable enough for quick detection of bugs and hence such an extension is a far fetched goal. Thus, we focus on an efficient and responsive VSCode plugin, enabled due to machine learning, to help developers catch well known bugs at runtime. 

EthGuard is a VSCode extension that uses a pre-trained ML model to predict the possibility of four types of common bugs in Solidity Smart Contracts:

    Re-entrancy
    Front runner
    Access Control
    Unchecked low calls

The extension is automatically invoked when VSCode is initialized and runs the classifier for each of these bugs upon every save. This aids developers in predicting if they are writing sound code. Since we are using an ML model, we are neither guaranteed to be sound nor complete. However, our experimentation proves that 73% to 97% accuracy depending on the type of bug we are trying to detect.

This is a competition entry for Ethereum India Hackathon 2022.

Transaction guards were introduced on Safes to improve account security and enable better financial controls among other purposes. However, setting these guards on the safes is a long and cumbersome process as one needs to know how to program the custom logic needed in the guard, deploy the guard contract and then set it up from the Safe UI using a contract interaction. This is where SafeGuard comes in.

SafeGuard enables users to add customisable on-chain financial controllers on their safes allowing them to unlock a new level of control, transparency and security over their financial actions. The two main transaction guards currently provided are AllowList Guard and DenyList Guard. These guards let users safely transact with only certain addresses. The former guard only allows Safe transactions to be sent to a list of addresses chosen by the user while the latter does not let users send Safe transactions to addresses that they do no want to. This is a great way for users to reduce their compliance risk as well by not having their transactions sent to sanctioned addresses.

The other two guards provided help users avoid overpaying during gas price volatility and have safes that can only be accessed for a certain period of time.

The Problem it solves :

In the healthcare sector, change is typically implemented slowly. It shows how slowly technology is being adopted that many hospitals still keep their records on paper Interoperability is a significant problem in the healthcare sector. I refer to the sharing, searching, and querying of Health Records as interoperability. Right now, healthcare record management networks have many loopholes in the system. 

Also, it becomes almost impossible to keep track of every record, even for individuals and medical organizations. The lack of transparency also leads to cost and friction to shift between medical or-ganizations according to the patient's will, which ultimately dilutes the trust in this network. 

A further limitation that the existing system has is the case of medical emergencies such as road accidents. In such cases, since enough medical information is unavailable on the spot.

The four major stumbling blocks in interoperability are:
1.	Patient Record Tracking: Many of us have faced a problem, when we relocate to a new place, we need to keep the records with us and show these records to the next doctor we visit.

2.	Mismatching Records: Patient misidentification occurs when a healthcare provider mixes up the medical records of different patients. This happens when the patients share similar characteristics – name, date of birth, and medical history, are just a few examples.

3.	Information Transparency: Hospitals suppress information because they don't want to lose patients, which is a very simple explanation. By limiting access to patient data, they thereby make a move extremely inconvenient.

4.     Access in case of Emergency: when a doctor overrides them at the same instant date, doctor-ID and patient Aadhaar are cap-tured, and this data can be recollected if the patient finds that his data was accessed without their permission.

Decentralization of sequencers is the prime goal of this project. Sequencers are a major centralization risk in the rollup space. This is compounded by the fact that the two of the most popular Ethereum optimistic rollups, Optimism and Arbitrum, are running their own centralized sequencers.

Censorship-resistance
Decentralized sequencers have better resistance to transaction censorship. For example, since optimism is an US-based project, it may need to censor transactions not compliant with OFAC rules of the US department of treasury. A decentralized sequencer is run by multiple entities across different countries so there's not a single point of attributability.

Fairness
It also enables fairness in opportunities for sequencing blocks. Anyone can join the decentralized sequencer network of nodes and get a chance to sequence (build) a rollup block and get rewarded by the network.

Fast L2 finality
We see one of the big benefits of distributed sequencer validation to give more (and faster) confidence to external actors like CEXes and bridges about the canonical chain, without having to wait for the sequencing window. It would also enable less secure light-clients that simply check the signature.

Interoperability (future)
We believe that cross-rollup sequencer interoperability is going to be an important milestone in the future. This effectively means that the sequencer network that we build for optimism can be extended for use by any other Ethereum rollup. This greatly improves the decentralized and security property of the network as whole.
