Project Description

A lot of less tech savvy people get scammed through phishing websites, wallet scams, etc. Initial idea is to create a simple chrome extension that warns people when they land at unknown websites. With the feedback from here, extend this to build a policing DAO that puts scammers data on chain so that other applications (e.g. wallets) can use and warn users.

How it's Made

Any user can report fraudulent domains on the DAO website, any DAO gov. member can validate the reports. Valid reports get their stake back and an additional incentive of tokens is given. Invalid reports get their stake slashed. The slashed stake is used to pay dividends to token holder. The information from these reports is used to warn users when they land on fraudulent websites using chrome extension and data stored on Polygon contracts and Tableland. IPFS is used to store evidences submitted during submission of reports.

The governance is designed to be a Merit based governance system where people with verifiable good background in web3 are given access. They are given a ERC 1155 NFT to give them access to validate reports.

Tableland helped us maintain immutable public data in structured way. Though more features are required (e.g. reading from contract), its impressive to see it work. Their API to query data is quite useful which helps open source applications to host and query data without any cost. We were able to easily query data from their API using our chrome extension.

IPFS helps us create and maintain evidences for fraud for domains and hence can act as what websites were built on various domains over time. (A web3 internet archive may be?)

Polygon is cheap and best to incentive the masses to use blockchain.

This product involved 4 legs. It was amazing to code 4 different things in a week. We had a react webapp, a lambda service on AWS, smart contract for interaction with tableland and governance and a chrome extension. Lots of learning.
