Project Description

This is not a Hack I spent Hackathon weekend diving into different theories of definition of the Value, to start at least briefly understand the topic. Along the way I worked on the 20 seconds video loop. There's no development in this submission.

Intrinsic theory of value

This value is not physical. Saying that this value is physical is the same as saying our minds are physical.

The value is the properties of an object.

This theory Cuts off our logical decision and makes us think only about what feels right to us.

It includes other variables such as brand name, trademarks, and copyrights that are usually difficult to calculate and sometimes not accurately reflected in the market price. Intrinsic value is not what the investors are willing to pay. Exchange theory of value An example of this is if someone wants to build a wooden shed they would need a certain quantity and quality of wood and nails. Some use value takes no effort to attain, for example sunlight, or something like gravity both which humans need to survive but do not need to do anything to obtain and still have value. Other use-values do require effort to attain, increasing their use-value. The needs an object fulfills and the physical properties, as in the uses to which the object can be put to work on, also tie in with the use-value

There are a lot of different theories. Some of them proposing to take into account power, exchange value, some try to count hours of required labor.

But they have hard time explaining why diamonds are so more valuable than water, even if the water is necessary for life.

Subjective theory of value advances the idea that the value is determined by the importance that individual places on a good for the achievement of desired outcomes.

And stated that value is not determined by any inherent property of the good, nor by the amount of labor necessary to produce the good.

Water is more plentiful and diamonds are rare.

My render is still going, it's not finished and it's glitchy. I want to put some more labor hours to rise a little but intrinsic value of this work.

Thank you for reading Wikipedia with me today.

How it's Made

3d video made in Houdini and Nuke. Unfinished. Gold bar was modeled using technology called VDB, which is not polygons but 3d voxels. Ice cream is physical simulation of a viscous fluid. Then it was rendered as hologram using curvature-based shaders.

Fly is a fly.

Industrial robots was used to smash the gold bar (Kuka) with the hand of Mikkie Mouse (huge thanks).
