Project Description

Step N Mint is the Pokemon Go of Web3. With the rise of NFTs we see the potential for immutable ownership to improve the gaming experience; AR brings this to the player’s fingertips.

In the game, players navigate a map view of their nearby location, displaying areas where NFTs are ready to be minted. The player can toggle between map and camera views to discover NFT mint locations (AR Little Rocks). When they arrive at a mint location, players approach the floating rock and tap the screen to shoot fireballs.

The rock will eventually explode, leaving an orb in its place, which can be clicked to link directly to a unique mint. Once minted, rocks can gain experience and skill by visiting additional locations, covering specific distances or completing activities.

How it's Made

How It's Made Tell us about how you built this project; the nitty-gritty details. What technologies did you use? How are they pieced together? If you used sponsor technology how did it benefit your project? Did you do anything particularly hacky that's notable and worth mentioning? How did you impress yourself which what your team built?

Sponsored Technologies

  • Polygon: Our NFT contracts are deployed on Polygon
  • Chainlink: We use Chainlink VRF to randomize the NFT mint that a user may find in a particular location.
  • Wallet Connect: We use wallet connect to allow user to leverage any existing wallet.

Gaming Technologies

  • Unity Game Engine: We build the front end part of the game in Unity, with access
  • Open Maps and MapBox API

Issues We Overcame

  • Bridging Unity to Wallet Connect
  • AR mesh detection not working on areas with bright light
  • Geolocation error rate is around 3M

Overall, we are very happy with what we built in such short amount of time, and will be integrating more extensive AR features.
