Safe Date is a dating app that uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify that all users are human and have been verified. This helps to create a safer and more trustworthy dating environment.
Project Description
Romance scams are prevalent online scams targeting individuals seeking love or financial support. Scammers create fake profiles to gain victims' trust and then solicit money or personal information. According to cybersecurity research firm Trend Micro, romantic scams are a common tactic among criminals, ranking among the top five scams of 2023.
Alarmingly, tools exist that can generate convincing fake profiles, scrape users' photos and data, and categorize users into age groups. These tools and AI pose a significant threat to dating app users as they can be used to create fake profiles that are virtually indistinguishable from real ones.
In response to this growing threat, this project aims to develop and implement a set of measures to protect young dating app users from romance scams.
How it's Made
The challenge in this project is to prove humanity, age and gender. We take the help of Zero-Knowledge proofs for proof, so as to avoid fake accounts from being created on the app.
We use an account abstracted wallet ensuring that the account created for a particular user can interact with another user account.
We use the XMTP protocol to provide messaging between the users.
