Oktopus is an educational platform oriented to encourage learning web3 content, learning while staking.

Oktopus Protocol

Created At

ETHMexico

Project Description

Global adoption has grown by over 2300% since Q3 2019 and over 881% in the last year. To Increase and massificate crypto adoption, it is necessary to facilitate access and certificate skills through an NTT (Non Transferable Token). To encourage an earning by learning focus a fee will be required to enrol, this fee will be staken until participant finalizes the course successfully. Also the NTT will work as a certificate which provides access to exclusive rewards.

How is sustainable?

  • Courses are designed for a 1 month duration
  • Students deposit $MATIC (TBD) as collateral for at least one month to commit to finish the course.
  • Octopus Protocol delegates $MATIC into different validators to get a yield of 0.5 - 0.55% each month
  • Every first month day the students are allowed to begin the course and compete each other to get a portion of the total Matic Staked.
  • The first x% of the enrolled students who finish the course will be awarded with the 30% of the total staking rewards (~ 0.15 - 0.165%)
  • The rest of the “promoted” will get a full refund of their collateral plus a 10% of the total staking rewards (~ 0.05 - 0.055%)
  • What happens if an student doesn’t finish the course?
  • If a student doesn’t finish the course in 60 days their will receive an automatic refund of their stake with no penalties.
  • Promoted students will get an NTT which allow them to get a part of the 20% of the total staking rewards of each month.
  • Promoted students will receive their stake 15 days after they get promoted.

How it's Made

We used Polygon network to create an NFT under ERC721, and modified the transfer function to make it non-transferable. It could also use a ERC1238 as well, not on this functional demo. This was the first time the team deployed a smart contract, and many concepts where only technically discussed but not hacked in time.
