Project Description

MetaStadium is an innovative ecosystem that combines the power of the metaverse, stadium-like experiences, and streaming to revolutionize the way content creators monetize their streams and engage with their audience."Interactive Live Streaming" track, MetaStadium leverages Livepeer's multi-participant live streaming feature to enable real-time interactions among streamers and their viewers, creating dynamic and engaging live experiences.

One of the key challenges addressed by MetaStadium is the lack of interactivity and realism in traditional streaming platforms. To overcome this, the platform offers a 3D virtual environment powered by BabylonJS, allowing streamers and viewers to connect in a visually immersive and interactive space. Through this virtual stadium, users can maintain eye contact, communicate with other fans, and form groups within a single room, enhancing the sense of community and fostering engaging interactions.

Moreover, MetaStadium integrates spatial audio technology, enabling users to experience a more lifelike and immersive environment. This feature enhances the feeling of presence, making the streaming experience more captivating and enjoyable for both streamers and viewers.

MetaStadium provides streamers with various opportunities. Streamers can mint special moments from their streams as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), ensuring these moments are preserved and can be owned by their fans. These NFTs can be sold or auctioned within the metaverse, creating new revenue streams for streamers.

MetaStadium is designed to support a wide range of use cases. For instance, it can be utilized for hosting charity events, where streamers can easily set up virtual office spaces for their foundations. Volunteers can interact with potential donors in real time, providing information and resolving queries, thus fostering meaningful connections and facilitating donations. In this scenario, NFTs can also be used as a token of appreciation for donors, further incentivizing contributions.

Additionally, MetaStadium caters to the booming esports industry. Streamers can create virtual rooms for each participating team, enabling their respective supporters to watch the players' streams and cheer together. Streamers can instantly mint video NFTs of their gameplay or memorable esports moments, allowing fans to purchase and own these unique digital assets, while providing streamers with additional revenue opportunities.

MetaStadium leverages Livepeer's decentralized streaming technology to ensure a decentralised and resilient infrastructure, which guarantees high-quality streaming experiences. Video NFTs are uploaded to Livepeer's NFT Video API for fast content delivery, employing a hybrid support system combining peer-to-peer (P2P) and Content Delivery Network (CDN) technologies. Polygon Smart Contracts are utilized to mint event tokens and provide unique access to hosts, while Graph Node is used for efficient data indexing and faster access to event data through API endpoints.

In summary, MetaStadium reimagines the streaming experience by merging the metaverse, stadium-like environments, and interactive live streaming. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and decentralized infrastructure, MetaStadium empowers streamers to monetize their content, engage with fans in real time, and create immersive experiences that captivate Gen-Z audiences.

How it's Made

The MetaStadium project was built using a combination of various technologies to create a seamless and immersive streaming experience. Here are the key technologies and how they were utilized:

  1. BabylonJS: BabylonJS, a powerful JavaScript framework, was used to create the 3D virtual environment. This framework enabled the development of realistic and interactive virtual spaces, enhancing the overall user experience.

  2. Livepeer: Livepeer's decentralized streaming technology was integrated into MetaStadium to ensure high-quality and reliable video streaming. Streamers can leverage Livepeer's Live Streaming API to broadcast their streams via OBS, which is then relayed to the metaverse for viewers to watch in real-time.

  3. Livepeer NFT Video API: To support the minting of video NFTs, MetaStadium utilizes Livepeer's NFT Video API. This API allows streamers to upload their video content and facilitates fast and efficient content delivery. The hybrid support of P2P and CDN technologies employed by Livepeer ensures cost-efficiency and accessibility for users with varying bandwidth and resolution requirements.

  4. Polygon Smart Contracts: MetaStadium leverages Polygon's smart contract functionality to mint event tokens and enable special access for hosts. The smart contracts follow the ERC-721 standard, enabling the creation and management of NFTs. The smart contracts also incorporate logic for royalty distribution, ensuring content creators receive their fair share of proceeds from NFT sales.

  5. Graph Node: To optimize data access and provide efficient API endpoints, MetaStadium utilizes Graph Node. This technology indexes the data from smart contracts, enabling faster retrieval and processing of event-related information. Front-end developers can utilize Graph Node APIs to access and display relevant data to users.

Throughout the development process, several notable aspects were implemented:

  1. Integration of Spatial Audio: MetaStadium integrated spatial audio technology to enhance the immersive experience within the virtual environment. This feature allows users to experience audio in a more realistic manner, creating a sense of presence and improving the overall engagement.

  2. HLS Stream Integration: MetaStadium successfully integrated HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) to the Babylon texture, enabling seamless playback of video streams within the virtual environment. This integration ensures smooth and uninterrupted streaming experiences for viewers.

  3. Resilient and Decentralized Infrastructure: The project's infrastructure was designed with resilience and decentralization in mind. By utilizing Livepeer's decentralized streaming network and Polygon's smart contracts, MetaStadium reduces reliance on centralized entities and provides a more robust ecosystem for streamers and viewers.

MetaStadium combines various technologies such as BabylonJS, Livepeer, Polygon Smart Contracts, and Graph Node to create a seamless and immersive streaming platform. The integration of sponsor technologies like Livepeer and Polygon provides decentralized and efficient streaming solutions, while the use of HLS stream integration and spatial audio enhances the overall user experience. The project's infrastructure is designed to be resilient and decentralized, ensuring a reliable and engaging platform for content creators and their audiences.
