Project Description

Gas Protocol is a solution that addresses the significant friction points associated with gas transactions in the world of Web3. When onboarding new users to the Web3 ecosystem, one of the major obstacles is the need for them to create a wallet and possess a native token simply to perform their first transaction. This process often deters potential users, as it involves purchasing the native token through a fiat on-ramp, which typically necessitates Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.

To mitigate these barriers, Gas Protocol offers a range of features and integrations:

  1. Safe Account Abstraction: Users can create a secure "safe" using the Account Abstraction SDK, holding their native assets and enabling gasless on-chain transactions.

  2. Protocol Registration: Protocols can register on the Gas Protocol's decentralized application (Dapp) by providing essential details and generating an API key via 1Balance.

  3. Relay API Key Encryption: The Relay API key generated by protocols is encrypted using Lit Protocol, ensuring the secure storage of these keys on-chain with the assistance of TableLand.

  4. On-Chain Conditions: Protocols can set various on-chain conditions for users, such as owning specific tokens, NFTs, or meeting certain criteria.

  5. User Condition Verification: Users can prove they meet the required conditions through Sismo, thereby becoming eligible for gasless services.

  6. Live Integrations: Gas Protocol is live and operational, with successful integrations like SparkDAO and ApeCoin DAO, showcasing how gasless interactions can be achieved for SDAI and other functions.

  7. Live Integrations with MakerDAO: Gas Protocol integrates with MakerDAO to provide gasless deposit and withdrawal functions for sDAI, which is a yield-bearing stablecoin. This means users can interact with MakerDAO through Gas Protocol without incurring gas fees when depositing or withdrawing sDAI. This integration streamlines the user experience, making it more efficient and accessible.

  8. Live Integrations with ApeCoin: Within Gas Protocol, there are live integrations with ApeCoin DAO, enabling users to stake their ApeCoin tokens. By staking ApeCoin through Gas Protocol, users can participate in governance and utility activities while enjoying the convenience of gasless transactions. This feature enhances the engagement and utility of ApeCoin within the Gas Protocol ecosystem, making it a valuable asset for users.

  9. Identity Verification: The Mask's RelationService is used for identity verification, helping protocols confirm that their users are genuine and not bots.

How it's Made

Key Technologies Used:

  1. Safe and Gelato: Account abstraction technology is a core component, allowing users to create a secure "safe" to hold their native assets. Gelato automation is used to streamline transaction execution.

  2. EIP 712 and EIP 2773: EIP 712 is employed for signing meta transactions, ensuring transaction security. EIP 2773 is used for transaction relaying.

  3. APE Protocol: Integrating APE Protocol allows gasless functions, enhancing the user experience.

  4. MakerDAO Protocol: MakerDAO is integrated for gasless deposit and withdrawal functions, leveraging sDAI, a yield-bearing stablecoin.

  5. TableLand: TableLand is utilized to store encrypted Relay API keys securely on-chain, enhancing data management.

  6. Lit Protocol: Lit Protocol is used for encrypting Relay API keys and mapping protocols with their contract addresses and whitelisted addresses.

  7. Mask Network: Mask's RelationService is used for identity verification, helping protocols confirm user authenticity.

  8. Sismo Connect: This technology enables users to generate zkproofs and submit them to access gasless transactions based on protocol-defined conditions.
