Project Description

Carbon File is a Verra for web3 (Verra is a Organization issuing off-chain carbon credits to the verified projects). Carbon file calculates the carbon sequestration in soil, through satellite & field data collection converting into carbon credits based & a dao to verify the records and publish the credits on chain.

How it works

Project owners upload satellite data, field data to the decentralized (IPFS) storage network ML platform prepares the data, run ML models to estimate the carbon stock & allot carbon credits DAO members verify the carbon credits assigned by carbon file and approve it to store on chain.

How it solves problem This project is a mix of data analytics & web3 for to calculate the carbon credits in scalable approach. Sate lite based data collection, AI based measurements will bring down the total cost to measure carbon credits and to cover large proportion of area.

On chain storage through Data DAO avoids the need of centralised entity to verify the project data & to store in decentralised carbon file registry.

How it's Made

Data Collection It happens from the field and remote sensing satellite data. Project developers, project owners provide the field data by filling the required information through carbon file form. Agro Monitoring API provides the remote sensing satellite data of the selected field.

ML modeling Publicly available SOC measurement database containing 840 sampling locations over a 26-hectare (ha) agricultural field located in southern Ontario, Canada used to train the model using linear regression algorithm with 68% accuracy prediction

Predicted the SOC% using trained ML model on real time NDVI satellite data collected between 31Dec22 to 31Jan23 using agro monitoring api for the field located in canada

Calculated total carbon stocks and carbon credits using predefined formulas based on SOC%. All this information stored in carbon registry

On chain storage through Data DAO

  1. Token.sol an ERC20 contract written with a max supply of 10 CFTK tokens. Governor allots 1 token for each designated DAO members
  2. vote.sol allow the DAO members with tokens to audit, vote & publish carbon credits on chain
  3. Upon receiving 50% of voting, carbon credits published to filecoin using litehouse perpetual storage SDK
