Buy The Quake is an platform that bridges seismic monitoring and blockchain technology, opening up new possibilities for DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and disaster response. By leveraging Lit Protocol's Multi-Party Computation (MPC) capabilities, our project creates immutable and verifiable proofs of earthquake occurrences and triggers DeFi action to hedge the risk of natural disasters.

How it's Made

Buy the Quake is built on a focused stack of cutting-edge technologies, carefully integrated to create an innovative and efficient system:

Lit Protocol: At the core of our project is Lit Protocol's Multi-Party Computation (MPC) system. We leverage Lit's decentralized network to generate cryptographic proofs of earthquake events. This ensures that our seismic data is verifiable and tamper-proof, as no single party has complete control over the proof generation process.

Taiwan Earthquake API: We integrate directly with the Taiwan earthquake API to fetch real-time seismic data. This reliable source of earthquake information serves as the crucial input for our proof generation process, allowing us to create DeFi products based on actual seismic events in Taiwan.

Base Onchain Kit: We utilized the Base onchain kit for both our frontend and backend development. This comprehensive toolkit provided us with a robust template to build our decentralized application, ensuring compatibility with the Base ecosystem and streamlining our development process.

Frontend: The Base onchain kit's frontend template allowed us to quickly set up a responsive and user-friendly interface for our DeFi products. Backend: Using the backend template from the Base onchain kit, we established a solid foundation for handling blockchain interactions and processing seismic data.

Smart Contract Integration: Building on the Base onchain kit, we've developed smart contracts that interact with our Lit Protocol-generated proofs. These contracts form the backbone of our DeFi products, such as earthquake prediction markets or parametric insurance policies.
