Blockdrive

Currently, many file storage solutions such as OneDrive and Google Drive store your files on a single server, which makes them vulnerable to cyber threats such as data breaches and hacking attacks. Additionally, if the server experiences downtime or malfunctions, you will not be able to access your files.

BlockDrive solves this problem by providing a decentralized file storage solution. By storing your files in a distributed network, BlockDrive ensures that your files are safe from cyber threats and data breaches. Additionally, since your files are stored in a decentralized network, you can access them from anywhere, anytime, and on any device.

Another problem that BlockDrive solves is the issue of limited storage space. With centralized file storage solutions, you are often limited by the amount of storage space available on the server. With BlockDrive, you can store an unlimited amount of data, as long as you have the capacity to store it on your device.

What makes our project special

• we utilized lighthouse sdk to make the data perpetual
• our software updates the registries thereby having a button in the context menu , to seemelessly upload any file with just right clicking on it
• upload on file structure change: any file that is added to blockdrive folder will directly be uploaded into ipfs , thereby making it very easy for users to upload by just dragging and drop
• queing when internet is slow, when user send the file into blockchain folder , the upload is queued and upload happens in background when ever internet is connected

The project uses @lighthouse-web3 sdk to implement perpetual storage feature. combining the power of lighthouse and fvm , we have created a simple user fiiendly application which can upload and retrieve data on a simple right click of the file , this was possible with light house sdk , where in we have implemented commands through context menu to run the javasript file with the help off a python script and winreg library. it was the first time handling registries in windows and was a lot of fun , felt really happy to add features into the right click menu and making it a simple data dao
